What are the average high school basketball requirements?

I am doing an english project for school and they asked me to compare other high school basketball teams requirements to the character's school in the book Slam by Walter Dean Myers. I didn't want to use my school (unless push comes to shove) so i just want to know about other high schools.

P.S: i need to know things like GPA and age averages.|||In Nebraska it is different in every school. In my school you have to pass 3 out of the 4 core classes the year before to be elgible, and during the season you can only be failing one class. If you fail two you will sit out until you raise one of the grades. Age isn't a big factore for us, we just have to be in 9th -12th grade and four years max. You can't fail your junior year and play that year come back the next and redo your junior and expect to play as a senior.|||In NJ, or at least in my school you can't be falling any classes during the semester. If you are, you won't be able to try out or you will have to sit out until you bring them up if you are on the team. There is no age limit as long as you are in 9-12 grade and go to the school, freshmen can play varsity instead of frosh or jv if they are good enough|||Well you just have to be passing...but that's the same with every school in Texas. There is no age requirement you just have to be attending that school.
